The Color of Fire - National Documentary Project

The Color of Fire is an ongoing national documentary project by RJ Clarke, a documentary photographer and career firefighter-paramedic, documenting Black firefighters, their families, their companies, and the communities they serve across the United States.

Photographed from inside the fire service, the work moves beyond emergency scenes to document station life, training, mentorship, leadership, family, humor, fatigue, community relationships, and the quieter periods between calls.

The project is being developed as a photobook, exhibition, short documentary, and permanent visual archive.
